A well stocked kitchen is critical to insuring success when changing over to a whole foods diet. Most people equate healthy food with bland taste and this is absolutely not true. Once you know the secret to adding taste back in you will find the whole foods diet to be one of the best tasting diets. It's a matter of retraining your taste buds and there is definitely a period of adjustment but I have never looked back to the standard American diet ("SAD") with any feelings of regret or even nostalgia. The following is a list of condiments I try to always have stocked in my kitchen:
Tamari soy sauce
Balsamic vinegar
Olive oil
Sesame oil
Sea salt
Butter
Chicken or veggie stock
Minced garlic
Nut butters (peanut butter, almond, and tahini)
Salsa
Bean dip
Stevia, honey, brown rice syrup, agave nectar
Coconut oil
Salad dressing
Pickled ginger
Sauces and dips
